Get to know DocMate

Use the three main tabs to move around the app. You do not need a DocMate account to use the document tools.

Home

Choose one of six document and image tools.

Files

Find saved output, organize favorites, and share files.

Settings

Set appearance and export defaults, clear cache, and get help.

Choose the right tool

Before you begin: Keep your source files available on your device and allow space for new output. Processing happens on your device; file providers and apps you choose for sharing may use the internet.

01 / Capture

Scan to PDF

Home → Scan to PDF → Scan Document

  1. Open Scan to PDF. Allow camera access when prompted. The current scan entry point requests this permission before opening the scanner, including its Import option.
  2. Capture or import pages. Place your document flat in good light and press the capture button for each page. To use existing photos, choose Import and select your images.
  3. Check your capture. Tap the page thumbnail/count, then choose a page under Scanned pages. Adjust the corner handles to include the document. Press the capture button to return to the camera.
  4. Choose Finish. Wait while the pages are prepared. Your pages open in the Image to PDF editor, ready to review and save.

  2. 2Review pagesAdjust the corners
  3. 3FinishOpen Image to PDF
Workflow illustration: capturing or importing pages leads to the PDF editor. This is a guide diagram, not an app screenshot.

Camera options

Auto beside the flash icon opens Auto / On / Off flash choices, subject to device support. Quality offers HD · High quality, MAX · Best quality, and SD · Smaller file. Choose the quality before capturing your pages.

Tip: Check small text and document edges before finishing. Cancel or the scanner’s back action closes the capture session without finishing its pending pages.

02 / Review & save

Edit & save your PDF

Scan Document → Finish → Image to PDF

  1. Select a page. Tap its thumbnail or use the previous/next arrows. Check the page number below the preview.
  2. Adjust the page. Use Retake to replace it, Rotate Left or Rotate Right to correct orientation, or Crop to adjust its boundaries.
  3. Apply the crop. Drag the four corners, then choose Apply crop. Auto restores the detected boundary; Full image includes the entire image. Cancel keeps the previous crop.
  4. Review the order. Drag thumbnails to reorder pages. Use Delete to remove the selected page from this editing session; it does not delete the original imported image.
  5. Choose Save. DocMate creates a dated Doc_… PDF. Wait for PDF created and check the displayed folder. Open Files to find, rename, or share it.

Page size: Set Settings → Default PDF Page Size before saving: A4, Letter, Legal, or Automatic. Review your PDF in a viewer before sharing it.

03 / Image tools

Resize Image

Home → Resize Image

  1. Select an image. Its original dimensions and file size appear at the top; use Change image to select a different source.
  2. Under Resize by, choose Pixels or % Percentage, then enter width and height. Or choose Original, Large, Medium, or Small under Common Sizes.
  3. Keep Maintain Aspect Ratio on to preserve proportions. Turn it off only when you need independent width and height.
  4. Under Output, choose JPEG or PNG. JPEG also has a quality slider. Check the dimensions and estimated output size.
  5. Choose Apply and wait for Image resized. The result is saved as a new file; the original is unchanged.

Example: With aspect ratio maintained, 50% changes a 2400 × 1600 image to 1200 × 800. File size is an estimate; this tool does not promise an exact KB target.

04 / PDF tools

Join PDF

Home → Join PDF

  1. Select at least two PDF files. Use the add-files control to include more.
  2. Enter an Output File Name.
  3. Drag files into the order you want. Check the numbered list and remove any unwanted entries before joining.
  4. Choose Join PDF. Wait for PDF files joined, then open the saved result from Files.
PDF A
Pages 1–2
+PDF B
Pages 1–3
→One PDF
5 pages in list order
Example: a two-page PDF followed by a three-page PDF creates one five-page document.

Tip: Joining combines the PDFs in list order. Removing a list entry does not delete its source file.

05 / PDF tools

Split PDF

Home → Split PDF

  1. Select a PDF containing at least two pages.
  2. Choose Extract single range to put your selected pages into one PDF, or Split into multiple files to create one PDF for each added range.
  3. Under Add Page Range, enter From Page and To Page, then press the add (+) control. For example, add 1–3 and then 5–6.
  4. Check Selected Ranges and the output count. Use Remove to delete an unwanted range. Ranges must be inside the document and must not overlap.
  5. Choose Split PDF and wait for PDF split complete. Find the output in Files.

You can also enter 1-3, 5-6 in From Page with To Page empty, then press the add control.

Check before splitting: Typed ranges are not used until added to Selected Ranges. With no added ranges, single-range mode copies all pages into one PDF; multiple-file mode creates one PDF per page.

06 / PDF tools

Compress PDF

Home → Compress PDF

  1. Select your PDF and check its original size.
  2. Choose Balanced (Recommended), High Compression, or Low Compression. High uses stronger lossless compression; Low favors faster processing.
  3. Review Estimated Output, then choose Compress.
  4. Check Compression Result and the save confirmation for the final size and location.

Already optimized? Savings depend on the source PDF. If lossless compression cannot make it smaller, DocMate retains the original-sized content in the output. There is no guaranteed reduction percentage.

07 / Convert

PDF to Image

Home → PDF to Image → PDF to Images

  1. Select a PDF. The tool opens with the title PDF to Images.
  2. Under Pages to Convert, choose all pages or specific pages. Enter selections such as 1-4, 6, 10-12, using only page numbers present in your PDF.
  3. Choose Image Format: PNG or JPEG. Choose Image Quality: High, Medium, or Low. Higher quality produces larger rendered images.
  4. Choose Convert and wait for the saved-image count and folder in the status message.
  5. Open Files → Images to see the conversion as an image collection. Open the collection to review its pages or use its menu to share them.
  1. 1Select PDF pagesAll or a selection
  2. 2PNG / JPEGChoose image quality
  3. 3Files → ImagesOpen the collection
Workflow illustration: selected PDF pages become images grouped in a conversion collection.

Tip: Each conversion creates a separate collection, even when you convert the same PDF again. If a conversion stops partway through, already saved pages may remain; check the saved count before retrying.

08 / Organize

Files & collections

Files → All / PDF / Images / Favorites

Find, open, and share a file

  1. Open Files and choose a category. PDF is selected initially. All includes tracked individual images as well as PDFs.
  2. Use the search control and enter part of the file name. The sort control switches individual files between newest and name order.
  3. Tap a file to open it in a compatible app, or open its more-options menu.
4. Choose Rename, Share, Add favorite / Remove favorite, Copy, or Delete. Share opens your device’s sharing options; select the app or recipient there.

Windows: Copy and Cut put the file on the clipboard for pasting into a file manager. On other platforms, Copy places a file location/reference on the clipboard; use Share to send the file itself.

Manage converted image collections

Under Images, tap a collection to view its pages. Use the three-dot menu for Open, Rename, Add to Favorites / Remove from Favorites, Delete, or Share. The sort menu offers Newest, Oldest, and Name. Search also matches the original PDF name.

Renaming changes the collection label. Favoriting a collection adds it to Favorites without separately favoriting its images or source PDF. Older images without collection records remain under All or Favorites.

Delete carefully: File deletion removes the saved file after confirmation. Collection deletion removes its generated images and keeps the source PDF. There is no in-app undo. Removing a page in the PDF editor is a different action.

Where are my saved files?

Use the folder shown in the save confirmation. On Android, common locations are Downloads/AditiSoft/pdf and Downloads/AditiSoft/Images; scanned PDFs may also use a previously configured Documents destination. Windows and other platforms can use different app-data, Documents, or Downloads folders. The current Settings screen has no save-location picker.

09 / Make it yours

Settings & support

  1. Open Settings. Tap Appearance and choose System default, Light, or Dark. It applies immediately and is saved for next time.
  2. Set Default Image Quality to Low (70%), Medium (80%), or High (Recommended, 90%). Tools with their own quality controls can use separate choices.
  3. Set Default PDF Page Size to A4, Letter, Legal, or Automatic for Image to PDF output.

Clear temporary files

Finish exports and sharing first. Choose Data & Storage → Clear App Data, read the confirmation, then choose Clear. This in-app action removes cache and temporary files while keeping saved documents and settings. If files are in use, try again later.

Help and app information

How to Use currently opens a short in-app help message. Send Feedback opens an email draft, and Rate on Play Store opens the app’s Play Store destination. These external actions depend on your installed apps and connection.

Open About DocMate for the version/build, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Open Source Licenses, website, and Contact. For support, use About DocMate → Contact or support@aditisoftware.in.

10 / Need a hand?

Troubleshooting

The camera does not open

Check DocMate’s camera permission in your device settings, then try Scan to PDF again. If the scanner opens but the device has no usable camera, try Import. Camera permission is currently required to enter this workflow.

A PDF cannot be opened or processed

Check that the file is available locally and opens in a PDF viewer. Invalid, unsupported, or password-protected PDFs may fail. DocMate has no password-entry or unlock workflow. Join PDF needs at least two files; Split PDF needs at least two pages.

A range is rejected or the wrong pages are exported

Use page numbers inside the document. Split PDF does not accept overlapping ranges. Press the add (+) control and check Selected Ranges before splitting. PDF to Images accepts comma-separated pages and ranges directly.

I cannot find an output

Wait for a successful save message and check its folder. In Files, clear the search text and check All or PDF; use Images for PDF conversion collections. Files is a library of tracked output, not a browser for every file on your device. Check the device file manager if a file is no longer listed.

Opening or sharing fails

Make sure the saved file still exists and a compatible viewer or sharing app is installed. Files moved or deleted outside DocMate can leave an outdated library entry. Share the file again from its current location if needed.

Processing stops or an image is too large

Read the displayed error, check available storage, and try fewer pages or smaller source images. Before retrying, check for files already saved by a partially completed export.

Can I use OCR, Protect PDF, or Delete Pages?

OCR to PDF, Protect PDF, and the standalone Delete Pages tool are not available in the current app. The editor’s Delete action only removes a page before you save that editing session. Hardware-scanner/feeder and ZIP-export workflows are not exposed by the current Home screen.

Still need help?

Include your DocMate version/build, device, tool name, and the error message when contacting support.
